Tips for Better Web Conversion
Web conversion is a very important consideration for those starting online businesses, since it indicates how many visitors coming to your site are actually buying something. Here are some tips on how to increase your web conversion rate.
• Be honest with your customers. Clearly show what a particular product will cost, including additional costs such as shipping so the client will know how much they will have to pay. Also, make sure your site is regularly updated so that if a product is out of stock, it will be reflected in the listings.
• Make it easy for your customers to make a purchase. The site should be easy to navigate so that customers can visit a page featuring a product they may be interested in with just one click. It should also be easy for them to add products to their shopping cart and check out. Buttons to perform these important functions should be visible above the fold and be labeled clearly in big lettering.
• If you require users to sign up for an account, don’t ask for too much information. When they see the sign-up form, they may be daunted if they see too many fields to fill up. Make sure the form only asks for the most essential information.
• Make sure that you inspire trust in your users by making it easy for them to reach you. All of your contact information should be clearly given on the site, such as your e-mail address, a toll-free number and a street address. If you have an SSL certificate, you should also clearly display your VeriSign Secured logo.
• Have a clear returns policy. People will be more inspired to buy from you if they see that you have a good returns policy. If possible, have a number that they can call if they want to return something so that they can explain the problem to a customer service representative and offer free return shipping. You should also have a long return period starting from the date when the product is delivered.
